DIY Board and Batten

If you are looking for a simple and affordable way to upgrade your walls ....I got you...just keep reading. This DIY board and batten makes a great impact and adds so much character to any room! The total project was about $200 for supplies

and took 2 days. The hardest part was actually deciding on our exact design and spacing we wanted. We have 12 ft ceilings so we went 68 inches off the floor. The spacing between boards is 20 inches. And no we didn't rip the baseboards off, we just added a beveled edge to the bottom piece so it didn't overhang and kept on trucking....Alright so let's get into it!

To install the board and batten, start by measuring for your desired spacing. We used trusty 'ole blue painters tape to layout our exact design and measurements before we began. I highly recommend doing this, we actually changed things up from our first layout. After my husband cut all the boards to size, we then added some liquid nail to the back, and secured them in place with brad nails. We installed the vertical boards first and then the horizontal. What really took this project up a notch was adding inside cove trim. It was an added cost, but worth it in our opinion. Next up is caulking any joints and adding wood filler to seams and nail holes. It was by far one of the easiest home projects we have done! If you wanted a beginner project, this one is definitely for you!

You can find all the supplies and tools we used for this project here: https://liketk.it/4sFpy.

Finally, get all the wood sanded and head to the paint store to pick out your choice of color!! And get painting, it's gonna look great....you got this!!
